Card XV: The Devil
The Rebis is an annual tarot-themed print anthology of creative writing and art. Each issue delves into the mysteries and revelations to be found in a single card.
The series’ latest issue, The Devil, features the work of 38 writers and artists exploring themes found in this oft-misunderstood card, including power, rebellion, liberation, desire, shadow work, self-authenticity, and so much more, told through short fiction, essays, poetry, interviews, and creative nonfiction and illuminated with original paintings, illustrations, watercolor, and photography. Full of tarot insight, this issue also includes an active journaling and meditation ritual and a unique tarot spread.
This fourth volume of The Rebis is about transformation through confrontation. It is filled with truth-telling and radical courage. In these pages, we wrestle with shame, fear, and obsession, and learn to claim ourselves in imperfect, messy, and beautiful ways. We examine the connection between pleasure, resistance, and collective care. There are monsters and tricksters, underworld rituals, and scenes of ecstatic transgression. We explore counter-cultural rebellion, anti-authoritarianism, intimate hauntings, and the art of breaking the rules. We pray to the Devil, challenge the ties that bind us to each other, and navigate the edges of eroticism.
In a world full of restrictions and expectation, the stories, poems, essays, and art in this volume are rich with encounters of the forbidden and lessons from our shadow selves. This is an anthology for those of us who are willing to step into discomfort, uncover hidden truths, and meet ourselves fully, without the masks we so frequently wear.
The Rebis is a ritual object—a beautifully designed, limited-edition keepsake that belongs as much on your altar as on your bookshelf. The content is evergreen and timeless: return to it whenever The Devil appears in your readings, or revisit it as a companion for your own shadow work and creative practice. Perfect for tarot practitioners, creatives, and mystics hungry for writing and art that pushes boundaries and dares to go deeper.
Published by The Rebis (2025). New and in perfect condition, with a trim size of 8 x 10 inches.
120-page perfectbound magazine with full-color illustration and photography throughout. Cover by Xaviera López.
